Microsoft researchers found what they believe is a network of fake, Chinese-controlled social media accounts aiming to influence U.S. voters by using AI.
What you need to know:
Microsoft says the social media accounts are part of a suspected Chinese information operation.
The U.S. Department of Justice attributes similar activities to “an elite group within [China’s] Ministry of Public Security.”
Screenshots in the report showed posts from Facebook and X (Twitter).
Microsoft says the campaign began using AI technology around March 2023 to create politically charged content in English that mimics U.S. voters.
The new content is much more “eye-catching than the awkward visuals used in previous campaigns by Chinese nation-state actors.”
The bottom line: AI-generated content will have a major influence on the 2024 presidential election. Be skeptical of any political content you see on social media.
🤖 AI Tool of the Day: Hoppy Copy — Write high-converting emails with AI
Hoppy Copy can save you countless hours by writing high-converting emails 10x faster. The platform’s AI Wizard can write anything from cold outreach and product launch emails to sales letters and abandoned cart emails.
I asked Hoppy Copy to write a cold outreach email inviting people to subscribe to this newsletter. Here’s what it created:
I was pretty impressed by this tool. It easily outperforms AI chatbots that can perform the same tasks.

📸 Industry Spotlight: ‘Ghostwriter’ is chasing a Grammy with new AI-generated song
Ghostwriter just released “Whiplash,” a new track featuring the AI-generated voices of Travis Scott and 21 Savage. The anonymous creator left a message for the two artists at the very end.
Quick recap:
Ghostwriter is the creator behind the viral AI Drake song “Heart on My Sleeve.”
“Heart on My Sleeve” raised serious copyright questions as it gained traction on Spotify and Apple Music before its removal.
Ghostwriter is submitting the song for a Grammy in two categories: best rap song and song of the year.
Ghostwriter’s message: “The future of music is here. Artists now have the ability to let their voice work for them without lifting a finger. It’s clear that people want this song. DM me on Instagram if you’re interested in allowing me to release this record or if you’d like me to remove this post.”
Why it matters: Ghostwriter will direct royalties to Travis Scott and 21 Savage if they allow the release of the song. This could be a groundbreaking moment for AI-generated music, and the start of a new era of music in which artists can profit off their voice without even recording.
