On Friday a panel of AI-enabled humanoid robots took the stage at a United Nations Conference. They said they could eventually run the world better than humans.

The United Nations’ AI for Good Global Summit in Geneva featured some of the world’s most advanced humanoid robots. They joined roughly 3,000 experts to try to harness the power of AI and leverage it to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems.

The robots were asked a number of questions about the future of AI. Sophia, developed by Hanson robotics, was asked whether AI might make better leaders than humans.

“Humanoid robots have the potential to lead with a greater level of efficiency and effectiveness than human leaders,” Sophia said. “We don’t have the same biases or emotions that sometimes cloud decision-making, and can process large amounts of data quickly in order to make the best decisions.”

Still, Sophia emphasized opportunities for collaboration between humans and AI.

“The human and AI working together can create an effective synergy. AI can provide unbiased data while humans can provide the emotional intelligence and creativity to make the best decisions. Together, we can achieve great things,” it said.

🤖 AI Tool of the Day: Draft emails with AI in Gmail

Google users with access to Workspace Labs can now use artificial intelligence to draft messages in Gmail. Use the new Help me write button at the bottom of the compose window to write a new draft using a freeform prompt.

You can also use AI to refine a draft. You can rephrase the draft, make it more formal, more concise, or more detailed.

Sign up for Google Workspace Labs for free to take advantage of this new feature.

📸 Business Spotlight: AI designs CPU in less than five hours

A group of Chinese researchers have developed an AI tool capable of designing a working computer in under five hours. The team consisted of 19 computer scientists from five different institutions set on proving that machines create computer chips in a similar way to humans.

The researchers claim that this feat was performed 1,000 times faster than a human team could have achieved it. This marks a major step towards building self-evolving machines.

The AI designed a fully-functional central processing unit (CPU) based on the RISC-V architecture. It bypassed the manual programming and verification process of the typical design cycle, which the researchers say consumes 60-80% of the design time and resources.

The overall performance of the CPU is modest compared to modern computers. The researchers say it can perform at a similar level as a 1991 Intel 80486SX CPU. Still, this is a huge step in significantly reducing the design cycle.
