X’s updated privacy policy says it will collect users’ biometric data as well as their job and education history. The company plans to use the information it collects to help train its machine learning and AI models.
What you need to know:
X owner Elon Musk hopes to enter the AI market with another company, xAI. He likely intends to use X as a source of data for xAI.
Musk recently encouraged journalists to write on X. This could be an attempt to generate more interesting and useful data to feed into AI models.
The xAI homepage says it “will work closely with X (Twitter), Tesla, and other companies to make progress towards our mission.
Musk clarified that X will use “just public data, no DMs or anything private.”
The bottom line: Tesla just launched its $300M AI cluster and now X will be used to collect massive amounts of data. Elon and xAI will make a splash in the AI market very soon.

Undergraduate admissions officers at Georgia Tech are exploring how AI chatbots might reshape the admissions process this fall. Their findings could have major implications for universities across the country.
Key points:
Applicants’ essays have traditionally served as a lens into their unique character, potential and ability to handle adversity. AI tools threaten to turn the college application essay into “a kind of generic cake mix.”
Some teachers think outsourcing writing to bots could prevent students from developing critical thinking and storytelling skills.
After the Supreme Court ruled that race-based university admissions programs were illegal, some selective universities hoped to rely on essay questions to foster diversity on campus.
The other side:
Other educators hope that AI tools will have a democratizing effect.
Wealthier high school students often have access to alumni parents, family friends and paid writing coaches to help with the application process. AI tools could play a similar role for students who lack such resources.
Georgia Tech is encouraging high school applicants to use AI tools to “brainstorm, refine and edit” their ideas.
