Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) plans to begin a series of listening sessions next month on the regulation of artificial intelligence. The sessions are intended to educate members of Congress on the risks posed by AI on jobs, the spread of misinformation and intellectual property theft.
What you need to know:
The sessions will include some of the top names in AI, including Elon Musk of Tesla, Sundar Pichai of Google, Sam Altman of OpenAI and Satya Nadella of Microsoft.
Tech leaders are set to convene in Washington on Sept. 13 for the first of several closed-door “AI Insight Forums.”
Jensen Huang, the chief executive of the leading AI chip maker Nvidia, will also attend.
Big tech companies disagree on the logistics of regulating AI.
Why it matters: The United States is behind on AI regulation. Europe is expected to enact a new AI law later this year and already uses the Digital Service Act (DSA) as a framework for certain issues. These hearings should help U.S. lawmakers catch up.

Yesterday OpenAI announced the launch of ChatGPT Enterprise, a version of ChatGPT that promises to protect business data.
Key points:
ChatGPT Enterprise offers better security and privacy, unlimited high-speed access to GPT-4 and more powerful data analysis capabilities.
The enterprise version can perform all the same tasks as ChatGPT.
ChatGPT Enterprise provides a new admin console with tools to manage how employees use ChatGPT and a dashboard with usage statistics.
It comes with unlimited access to Advanced Data Analysis, which allows ChatGPT to analyze data, create charts, solve math problems and more.
Other features like customizing ChatGPT’s knowledge of company data and even more advanced analytical tools will come soon.
The bottom line: Many companies have considered using ChatGPT but worry about privacy and security. ChatGPT Enterprise offers the solution as OpenAI seeks a commercial win.
