OpenAI CEO Sam Altman says AI will enable a “one person, billion dollar company” in the near future.
The rundown:
Altman said that he has a betting pool with other tech CEOs on what year the milestone will be reached.
This bold prediction comes as tech companies continue to lay off thousands of employees to kickstart 2024.
Altman also posted “is there a word for feeling nostalgic for the time period you’re living through at the time you’re living it?”
Why it matters: Altman has a tendency to be speculative about the future of AI, but he is one of several tech execs that expect to see generative AI fundamentally change our society.
(Also, “anticipatory nostalgia” refers to the bittersweet feeling of knowing you’ll look back fondly on the current moment.)
