🗞️ The Latest in AI: Chinese firms release ChatGPT-style AI bots to public

Source: Midjourney

Yesterday marked a new milestone in the global AI race. Chinese tech firms Baidu and SenseTime both launched ChatGPT-style AI bots to the public.

Key points:

  • Baidu opened public access to its ERNIE Bot, which allows users to conduct AI-powered searches and carry out tasks like creating videos and summarizing complex documents.

  • ERNIE Bot had previously been offered only to corporate clients and select members of the public. Baidu is among the first companies in China to get regulatory approval for the rollout.

  • SenseTime announced the public launch of its SenseChat platform.

  • China became one of the world’s first countries to regulate generative AI in July.

The bottom line: Tech powerhouses are emerging in China as excitement around AI sweeps across the globe. It remains to be seen if China’s models will challenge current industry leaders.

🤖 AI Tool of the Day: Create royalty-free AI music with Beatoven

Beatoven is one of the coolest AI tools that I’ve tested recently. There aren’t a ton of practical applications for Beatoven, but it’s worth checking out if you need background music for your video content or podcast.

Here’s the three-step process that generates AI music in just a couple minutes:

Basic information

Choose a genre

Assign an emotion

Finished track

I can’t embed my sample projects here, but this is a fun tool to try out on your own time anyways. Click here to try Beatoven for free. You’ll need to upgrade to a paid plan (starting at $3 a month) to download your tracks.
