🗞️ The Latest in AI: OpenAI CEO meets with Israeli President
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is on a world tour helping governments come up with regulations that make sure AI is used responsibly. Altman, one of the most prominent voices for responsible AI, is eyeing investment opportunities in Israel and sees a “huge role” for the country in reducing risks from artificial intelligence.
Altman met with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who made headlines in February when said that part of his speech given at a cybertech conference was written by ChatGPT. He again used ChatGPT to prepare for Monday’s meeting with Altman in Jerusalem.
The two discussed the opportunities and challenges facing the world and the State of Israel in connection to artificial intelligence. They are additionally eyeing a partnership in the field of AI development.
“The energy on making use of the technology and its positive benefits is fantastic to see, and I am sure Israel will play a huge role,” Altman said.
Altman now plans to visit Jordan, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, India and South Korea within the week.

🤖 AI Tool of the Day: Bard - Google’s ChatGPT killer
Google’s recent updates to its free AI chatbot, Bard, are making it a strong competitor to ChatGPT. Here are four things Bard can do that ChatGPT can’t:
Access the internet in realtime: ChatGPT has yet to roll out internet access to its users. Bard offers realtime internet access for free, allowing you to ask questions about trends, the stock market, and much more. This also means that Bard can summarize web pages. You can ask it to summarize articles, research papers, and official documents by posting a link in the chat box.
Use images as input: ChatGPT currently only takes text as input. With Bard you’re able to prompt with images and ask where an image was taken, explain what’s happening in the image, and generate captions for images that can be used on social media.
Explain code: Prompt Bard with a Github link and ask it to explain what the code is supposed to do.
Export: Bard allows you to take text generated from your prompts and export it to Gmail and Google Docs. Google says that you’ll be able to export your output into other apps soon.

📸 Industry Spotlight: How Khan Academy utilizes AI to enhance online tutoring
The non-profit educational organization is experimenting with AI as a tutor for learners and an assistant for teachers. Khan Academy’s educational chatbot, Khanmigo, is currently available via waitlist.
Khanmigo is designed to function as a student’s private tutor, built into traditional Khan Academy exercises through a pop-up chat box on the right side of the screen. Conversations with Khanmigo are recorded and viewable by each students’ teacher, and are also safeguarded by a second AI.
The chatbot will not reveal the answer to a problem, but instead asks students to solve a problem step-by-step. When a student makes a mistake, Khanmigo is able to distinguish what misconception that student has about the problem.
Khanmigo is an impressively versatile platform, working across traditional math exercises, computer programming exercises, and as a writing coach. Although it has not been fully integrated into Khan Academy yet, Khanmigo has proven itself as an advanced AI tutoring tool that is likely a glimpse of the future of learning.
Sal Khan, the founder and CEO of Khan Academy, hopes that Khanmigo will leverage AI to provide every student with the benefits of one-to-one tutoring. He thinks that artificial intelligence could spark the greatest positive transformation education has ever seen.
