OpenAI says it has started training its next AI model after forming a new safety and security board.

What you should know:

  • The company claims its “next frontier model” will deliver the “next level of capabilities” on the path toward AGI.

  • The new model will eventually replace GPT-4 and could power virtual assistants like Siri 2.0.

  • OpenAI also created a Safety and Security Committee to evaluate the risks posed by the new technology.

  • The committee will review and develop OpenAI’s processes and safeguards over the next 90 days.

Why it matters: OpenAI's tech is set to reach over one billion people through its new partnership with Apple. It's reassuring to see OpenAI's commitment to safety as generative AI becomes integrated into daily life.

AI TOOL OF THE DAY

🤖 Commercient AI Sync automates data integration

Most businesses utilize unique combinations of ERP and CRM systems in their day-to-day operations, but it can be challenging to manage things like inventory, sales, product lists and customer accounts when they are hosted by different systems. Commercient’s AI Sync allows small to medium-sized businesses to automate the integration of their various systems.

What it does:

  • Commercient’s solution creates a data flow between different systems to provide a 360-degree view of your business in a single integration app.

  • Integrating systems can take up to a year when done manually. AI Sync deploys advanced data mapping, data matching and high-speed syncing to reduce this process to just a few days.

  • As a result, customers are able to integrate every aspect of their business into a single Sync app without having to worry about data integrity.

  • This includes both master records (lists of customers, accounts, products, contacts, etc.) and real-time data like inventory, invoices and new orders.

How to Sync: Commercient now uses this tool on every Commercient Sync project, and is also making it available for purchase as a stand-alone solution on the AWS marketplace and its website. Click here to learn more.

📸 Elon Musk’s xAI raises $6 billion

DALL-E 3

Elon Musk’s xAI raised $6 billion in its latest fundraising round, bringing the valuation of the year-old startup to $24 billion.

The details:

  • xAI is now the second-most valuable AI startup in the world behind OpenAI.

  • The money will be used to bring xAI’s first products to market and accelerate the development of future tech.

  • xAI is reportedly in the process of adding multimodal capabilities to its flagship model Grok-1.5

  • Musk’s other businesses also collect valuable training data for AI models that could give it an advantage over competitors.

Why it matters: xAI’s funding is starting to rival OpenAI, which has received $13 billion in funding from Microsoft since 2019. Despite trailing behind in the AI race to this point, Musk’s startup might be able to launch a legitimate ChatGPT rival in the near future.
