TOP STORY
🗞️ Google introduces Gemini 1.5
Source: Google
Google just announced Gemini 1.5, a language model that achieves comparable quality to Gemini 1.0 Ultra while using less computational power.
The details:
Google is releasing Gemini 1.5 Pro for early testing.
Gemini 1.5 can process up to an hour of video, 11 hours of audio, 30,000 lines of code or over 700,000 words at one time.
1.5 Pro features improved understanding and reasoning across modalities (video, text, etc.).
The model outperforms 1.0 Pro on 87% of benchmarks and rivals 1.0 Ultra, which is currently Google’s most capable model.
Why it matters: Gemini 1.5 boasts the largest context window among the world’s leading AI models. This significantly enhances Gemini’s ability to work with long documents and perform complex tasks like coding, legal analysis and reasoning.
AI TOOL OF THE DAY
🤖 OpenAI launches photorealistic text-to-video model
OpenAI has introduced Sora, a text-to-video model that seemingly achieves photorealistic quality.
What you should know:
Sora can generate videos up to a minute long while maintaining visual quality and adherence to user prompts.
The model became available to red teamers to assess critical areas for harms or risks.
Sora can create complex scenes with multiple characters, specific types of motion and accurate details of the subject and background.
The model has a deep understanding of language and how things exist in the physical world.
Why it matters: 2024 was set to be a big year for AI video generation, and OpenAI has delivered. Check out the sample videos above to see how powerful Sora is.
