🗞️ The Latest in AI: Secret AI startup reveals wearable AI projector

Humane is a startup launched by ex-Apple duo Imran Chaudhri and Bethany Bongiorno in 2018. Since its founding year, Humane has unveiled no products but has brought on dozens of other ex-Apple employees responsible for key features like the iPhone’s touch screen keyboard and Apple Pay.

The company has finally revealed details about its first product: the Humane Ai Pin. The product is a wearable mini projector with AI-powered features that aims to replace smartphones.

Humane’s Ai Pin is designed to clip to a breast pocket, and can perform many tasks that a smartphone can with fewer gestures and voice commands. Activated with a tap, it can offer a summary of emails and calendar invites, translate between languages, and answer and make phone calls.

The startup’s founders believe that their product will unlock a new era of screenless personal mobile computing. Will it really replace smartphones? Only time will tell.

📸 Business Spotlight: Musk blames AI data scraping for new Twitter paywalls

Elon Musk and Twitter have implemented viewing limitations for non-paying users. Unverified accounts will now only be able to see 600 posts a day, while “new” unverified accounts will be able to see just 300 a day.

The new limits for verified accounts still only allow reading a maximum of 6,000 posts per day. Musk tweeted that the social media platform will soon increase limits to 8,000 tweets for verified users, 800 for unverified, and 400 for new unverified.

“Several hundred organizations (maybe more) were scraping Twitter data extremely aggressively, to the point where it was affecting the real user experience,” Musk said.

Musk blames companies for trying to ingest data for AI training of large language models (LLMs) similar to ChatGPT. Twitter’s latest move is one of several ways that Musk has tried to monetize Twitter in recent months.
