🗞️ Humane and Spotify push for personalized AI

Last week Meta took a gamble on personalized AI as a way to monetize AI products and ultimately power its vision for the metaverse. Now, Humane and Spotify are joining the push to roll out consumer-facing personalized AI products.
Fashion statement:
Humane will fully unveil its wearable “Ai Pin” on Nov. 9. The AI startup was founded by ex-Apple executives.
The company just previewed the Ai Pin at a Paris fashion show (pictured above).
Humane first put the Ai Pin on display at a Ted Talk in May. Humane co-founder Imran Chaudhri used the device to take a phone call, translate speech and summarize news.
The screenless device is equipped with a mini-projector, camera and speaker. Humane has boldly touted the product as a replacement for smartphones.
Robo DJ:
New screenshots of Spotify’s code reveal that it may be developing AI-generated playlists created with text prompts.
The company has a large research team working to understand “all the possibilities” across large language models, generative voice and personalization.
TechCrunch reports that Spotify is also testing a ChatGPT-style chatbot that allows users to request music.
Spotify previously launched an AI-powered DJ and added support for AI-translated podcasts.
My thoughts: Although I’m skeptical about the Ai Pin’s chances of competing with smartphones, the growing industry trend toward personalized AI is fascinating. Big Tech and small AI startups are both struggling to find ways to monetize their AI products. It looks like Meta and Spotify are responding by leveraging AI features to attract more customers to their existing platforms.
🤖 Toasty AI: Content creation for podcasts
Toasty is a professional AI copywriter trained on your podcast. All you have to do is upload a podcast episode and let Toasty AI generate 20+ pieces of content.
This tool works best if you upload episodes via YouTube URL. It will accept almost every type of video and audio format but the content generation process will be slower.
Here’s some sample content for a recent episode of My First Million hosted by Sam Parr:

📸 Meta trains AI on your Facebook and Instagram posts

Late last week Meta admitted to using public Facebook and Instagram posts to train its AI models.
What you need to know:
The “vast majority” of the training data used to develop Meta’s new AI assistants came from publicly available posts.
Posts that were fed to the new AI include both text and photos.
Meta has some measures that exclude private details from public datasets used by AI, meaning the AI hasn’t touched any private posts or messages.
The announcement comes as a legal battle heats up between copyright owners and AI companies.
The bottom line: This news is anything but surprising, and Meta will likely avoid litigation as it claims various rights to the content its users post.

Credit Capital: Visa announces plans to invest $100 million in companies developing generative AI technologies and applications.
Solidifying Security: The National Security Agency (NSA) launches a dedicated artificial intelligence security center.
Copyright Controversy: Robin Williams’ daughter bashes AI recreations of him.
